Twilight

The 3rd Twilight was released this month, Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1, its expected to rise to the top of the film charts and stay there, the production cost was estimated at around $127,000,000. As the Twilight films are all based on the trilogy of books, they felt that the final one should be spilt into 2 parts, if Breaking Dawn part 1 is a success the final film is sure to be a sell out Below I have a YouTube link to the official Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 Trailer.

Evaluation

I have used the images I have taken to create a front cover and contents page to a good standard. I took pictures and then uploaded then to Photoshop, using the tools such as Lab colour, curves, burn tool and the eraser I was able to make them look better to suit my magazine. By using the research I have done on sports magazines I emulated various parts of them, I added appropriate text, bar codes, pictures and titles in order for it to look as real as possible to a good quality.

Codes and Conventions.

Serif and Sans Serif.

The font style 'Serif' is normally used in text which is meant to come across as more intelligent and formal. the font adds extra parts on the edges on the individual letters to give them the "upper class" appearance. Whereas Sans Serif means without Serif (without the added edges), this font style is often used in daily magazines and other media texts, it is seen as a more informal font but can also become very effective in advertisements.

Audience of Media Text.

The media text i analysised was the front cover of the 'Daily Mail'. Just from the style, fonts and layout of the front cover I was able to see who the aimed audience were. The font style throughout the newspaper was mainly Serif, this gave it an upper class and more intelligent feeling. There were very little images and colours on the cover which implied the audience didn't buy the paper for the look, but for the text content which also suggest a sense of intelliance in the audience.

Reveal and Company

Codes are the similarities betweens things, in this case between two magazines. The codes between the two magazines I compared were the little writing, big, bold pictures and the prices were nearly the same. The use of the pictures attracts the audiences eye and make it more appealing, both magazines include celbrity gossip and and news becuase it is aimed at target audience.

Conventions are the differences between the two magazines. The conventions of the two magazines were the use of items included in the magazine and the title on one magazine was mainly covered up by the use of so many pictures and bright, vibrant colours.

Jo Webb: AS Media Studies Blog

About Me

To me media is advertisement and promotion of a certain product, using TV, the radio, posters or magazines. I have chosen to study media because its growing and can be linked to all everyday jobs, so i believe it would be a good courier choice. In the future I would like to be able to use media to create advertisement or to promote a company.Media interests me because it is used globally and can be linked to everything, without the use of the media, people would become less aware of products and news. My favorite film is probably Step Brothers because it has everything I'm looking for in a film and I never get tired of watching it.The radio station I would normally listen to would be Kiss 101 because everyone my age tends to listen to it and it has all latest music and some news to offer. If i could be in a TV show i would choose The Inbetweeners because it is such a widely watched program and doesn't seem to have a dull moment in it. I use the internet mainly for emails and Facebook, everyday person my age uses Facebook as a way of easily socializing with friends, online. An advert that has recently caught my eye has been the Pepsi adverts because they have kept the same group of friends helping each other in awkward situations which appeals to a wide range of the audience.

Media On TV.

Today in the media, Harry Potter mainly dominated the TV news and radio stations as it premiered its final film. It promises to be "the best one yet", however this is often said about all new squeals and always gets mixed reviews. As the Harry Potter films have gone on they have been getting more complex and less like a childhood fairy tale like story. However David Heyman, the producer behind the Harry Potter films, claims that this was what he hoped for. He believes that as the films have gone on the audience has grown up with the cast and they themselves have become more mature and complex.

As i said earlier in my blog, i said I would like to star in the TV show, The Inbetweeners, that also goes for their new film, released on August 19th, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3HzTKbsqsY. I have attached the films, official trailer, the widely watched TV program ensures that the film will be a big hit but will have to work hard to carry on a consistent amount of comedy already set by the previous series'.

Poll.
