What have you learned from your audience feedback?

After collecting feedback from my audience I asked them to make a number of comments, these were to state 1 or more things they liked about each task and 1 or more improvements that could be done. By asking them what the liked about each product could help me use this feature more and the improvements could help make my work more appealing and successful. After reviewing all of the feedback I now know that to make my work more professional I could work on the font in my trailer, as I used a pre-programmed font that was in Premiere Pro it did not have the same horror effect. If I were to make it again I would use the Dafont website to make all text as this can also contribute to the consistency of my products which was another thing the audience wanted to see. I also learned that the music/sound in the background needs to be controlled more so that the audience are able to understand all dialogue clearly. As consistency was mentioned in my feedback I now understand that to make all my product successful and professional I need to review them together more, making sure all names, dates etc. coincide with each other.

Research

Before making my horror poster for my film, I carried out research into other poster from all different genres which i have previously posted. As I have previously mentioned, thanks to my research i have understood that a horror poster should contain things such as a slogan, few colours and little imagery, this was used very well in The Possession poster.

Images

The above image shows a selection of images that I took when at my location, by getting a variety of images before creating my poster was important to ensure that it could be as professional as possible. When carrying out my research I found that very little of the film is given by the poster, only the genre and location is given most of the time which is what i was hoping to emulate.

Location

My location played a key part in the creation of my poster, after considering all possible places this was decided. I felt that this was an extremely good location to shoot and film because it was able to give off the genre of the film with little or no explanation. My location was previously used as a mental hospital which was perfect to my story as it is based around an abandoned mental hospital so it fit in with my story very well. As the hospital had been abandoned for a number of years it meant that decay of the buildings, smashed glass, boarded up windows and vandalism had occurred, this meant that gave an  automatic sense of horror.

Photo Decision

As i have mentioned, in my research i found that only one picture was mainly used in a film poster which would tend to be i the centre to catch the audiences eye and draw their attention. As I had to establish a sense of genre and location, I had to chose my image carefully. After trial and error attempts on Photoshop i became certain on which image to use, i felt that the below image had everything i needed for my poster.

I felt that this image was the best to use because it included the main characters in the centre of the image, with a good shot of the location building in the background. With the editing tools available on Photoshop i could make the genre apparent to the audience, i was undecided whether to used a green filter which is used in many horror posters, or to use a white and black filter which would have a similar effect and could highlight the genre of the film very easily to the audience.

Organisation

Using Word i was able to create a template of my poster to help me with my layout and to have an idea of what it was going to look like. This layout plan contained the positioning of any text, images, slogans, characters etc that would be on my poster.
