This is a film magazine front cover which mainly focusses on the action film Captain America, I think this magazine advertises and covers Captain America very well. Although most of the focus, if not all the focus is on this film, it would also discuss other up and coming recent films to the time within the magazine itself.
I think the graphics and use of colour schemes was the most appealing part of the magazine to the audience, I like the fact that the backgrounds colours (the American flag) matches the characters clothing. Although I like this technique, I would not use it in my work as this front cover is for a Marvel film and I do not think it would have the same effect on the audience for a horror film. If I was going to emulate anything from the graphic side of this cover, I would use the technique of having one main character in the centre of the page, I would also like to mainly focus on the one film, and however I would talk about other films as well.
Looking at all the text used in this front cover, I feel that it is one of the main aspects of the magazine that catches the eye of the audience. Most of the text is in big bold writing and it is all easy for the audience to read, the creators of this magazine have clearly put in a lot of thought into the colour scheme of the writing in correlation to the graphics. The text also talks about other films without going into much detail; this is good as it leaves it to the rest of the magazine to cover the other films. The best aspect of the text is the use of subtitles, they say such things as "Magazine of the year" etc. this makes the audience want to read it more and I would consider using a similar effect in my work.
Again, a good detailed analysis. Comment on the institutions here - "EMPIRE" magazine. Give a bit of detail about the magazine, including publisher and circulation. Also, try to find examples of different film magazines (not just Empire, but also Total Film or others) so you can contrast the house styles of different magazines and emulate the one you find most appropriate.
